Poseidon® Under-Vehicle Fire Nozzle — Specs
Poseidon is a nozzle built by firefighters, for firefighters. It is built to have the most efficient flow of water in a wide and controlled pattern. It goes in under the vehicle from any side. At an EV fire it's about creating a safer environment for both the patients and the firefighters for rescue. On a gas vehicle it floods the engine compartment from under the car. It flows 400+ GPM on a 1¾" line and weighs 18 lb with its deployment pipe. Use it at EV, hybrid and gas-vehicle fires, for gross decon after the call, and to wash apparatus undercarriages.
How to deploy
Attach the 38" deployment pipe to Poseidon and the hoseline.
Charge the line. Many crews start at idle on tank water (200+ GPM, without draining the tank).
With water already flowing, push Poseidon under the vehicle from any side, so firefighters stay out of the dangerous hot gases an EV gives off. Use the hook points at either end to push or pull it into position, with or without the pipe.
Positive water supply established: increase flow to 400+ GPM.
With Poseidon flowing, that firefighter is free to pull a protection line or grab extrication tools. Keep working the cabin and exposures per your SOG.
Why it's built this way
Flow while you deploy. Poseidon is meant to be flowing as it goes in. That keeps the aluminum cool and puts a spray between the firefighter and the heat.
Wide spray pattern from the top and sides. Spreads water across the underside of the vehicle instead of one high-velocity plume that bounces off.
Aluminum, not painted steel. It's light enough for a high compartment, and it won't rust where paint wears off in training.
Multi-use. EV/hybrid and gas-vehicle fires, gross decon, undercarriage washing, foam, and tank/rail car cooling, so the space it takes on the rig is worth it.
